Cameron Cook was at Target with his mom when he saw a little girl alone with a strange man standing just a little too close to her. Cameron’s mom, Heather, was preoccupied with shopping and at first tried to pull Cameron along, but at the 17-year-old’s insistence she stopped to assess the situation… something was definitely wrong.
And Heather admitted, “I was close enough that I could smell the liquor coming from his mouth. It was fearful.” Cameron approached the large man and began asking him what he was doing.
“So I went up to him, I was like, ‘Excuse me sir, do you know her?’ And then the first thing he said was, ‘I’m not a pervert, I’m not a pervert.’ I was like, I didn’t ask you that sir,” said Cameron. Cameron continued to berate the man until he ran out of the store. It’s likely the teenager saved the little girl from an unthinkable fate. “He was big, and Cameron had no fear at all,” said his mother. “He just stood firm on the fact that he knew what this man was doing was wrong.”
“I’m just happy I was there to protect her,” said Cameron. “Because you never know what could have went on.” But he wants no praise for his actions, only to inspire others to step in when they feel that something is not right. He told the Boston Herald, “Anybody should just have the courage to stand up. It’s not even about courage, it’s just being a person, a human — anyone can step up and do something like that.”
Angela Thomas – When God is in you, you have no fear. His mother deserves alot of credit for instilling a
moral fiber in Cameron!!
Mishelle – He had balls and strength. Risking his life to protect a child he didn’t know. That is a hero! Who knows what would have happened to her if he didn’t intervene? He should be a officer as he would make a great one.
Jennifer – Quick thinking, courageous young man. How very proud his mom and he should be for his strength of character and quick action. Bravo.
Kehrehn – He was a really brave dude to do this the mom just said keep going Wich is so annoying that she did not help or tell him to check out what was going on and what was happening
